Baroque music began around 1600 and ended around 1780. This is the period when the great Cremonese makers were practising their craft. Fitted with natural gut strings the baroque instrument has a sweet mellow sound whilst still powerful and able to project well. For violins I use a model by Joseph Guarneri Filius Andrea from 1705. For violas I usually use my Gasparo Da Salo model. althoughI am always happy to consider making other models.
